1. Wed, Jan 2nd -- Happy New Year! We are Open for Dancing!

Happy New Year! If you missed the Holiday Party, it was definitely
a blast! The band was great and we had some wonderful performances
by Sandra's Belly dancing class, Double or Nothing, and the Swing Cats!
We're continuing rockin' on into 2008, so come on out and join in on
the fun! DJ Trevor will be spinning the tunes from 9-Midnight.

** 8:00 - 9:00pm ($14) **

Beginner Lindy: Back To Basics: Lindy Hop Intensive w/ Trevor & Meg
Mastering the Lindy Hop can be difficult. It involves understanding
the music, rhythm, connecting with the floor, and connecting with
your partner. This core class will work on Lindy Hop patterns and
will give you techniques and exercises to help get your Lindy Hop to
an intermediate level of dancing.

Intermediate Lindy: Lindy Fun & More! w/ Gilles & Andrea
Time to dust off your dance shoes! This intermediate level class will
provide some flashy moves to add to your dance repertoire. We will
teach you the technique for spins, bends, and drops. Come ready to
work hard and have fun!

NOTE: Balboa will be resuming next week!

** 9:00pm - 12:00am ($7) **

Social Dancing, Food, and Fun w/ DJ Trevor!

2. New Year - New Management!

It is with sadness that we must announce that Donia, who has been
running swing night at Steppin' Out for the past year, will be
pursuing new endeavors. We wish her luck as she continues performing
and social dancing. We are very excited, however, to announce our
Wednesday Night Hop team members! This year we have planned lots of
exciting new classes and events!

*** Trevor Gattis, Gilles Bouvier, Laura Robeck, Andrea Owens ***

Trevor Gattis has been Lindy Hopping since he caught the (end of the)
craze in 1999! Since then he's been performing around the Bay area
with the Swing Cats, ran Swing Central for several years and helped
boost attendance there, has travelled the world Lindy Hopping, and
has taught and deejayed around the Bay area.

Gilles Bouvier was raised on cheese and crème fraiche in Paris,
France. He came to the United States in 1997 to work as a chip
design engineer in the Silicon Valley. When not practicing Jazz steps,
he is either rock-climbing, hiking a mountain, playing a little guitar,
spending too much time on his Mac, or thinking about French food.

Laura Robeck has always had a passion for dancing. By day, she is a
mild mannered science teacher at Carlmont High School, at night she
likes to let loose on the dance floor. She has always danced (tap,
jazz and ballet), even before she was born and fell in love with
swing while studying in Los Angeles.

Andrea Owens has been in the fitness industry for many years teaching
fitness classes and is currently managing a corporate fitness center.
Her addiction to swing dancing began in 1998. Since then, she has not
stopped dancing and can frequently be seen dancing at the Bay area's
various swing dance venues.

3. Wed, Jan 9th -- Next Series Starts w/ Special Guest Instructor!

Next week, we're kicking off our next 4 WEEK SERIES and will have
special guest instructor Megan Sershen (a.k.a. the lady who helped
start Wednesday Night Hop) for this month only!

Class Schedule:

** 7:00 - 8:00pm ($50) **

Intermediate Balboa with Jeff & Ashley
They're pulling out all the stops this month. This series will
continue to challenge and push your Balboa to that next level of
dancing. This class is geared for the intermediate Balboa dancer,
so you must have 6+ months prior Balboa experience in order to take
this class. Take this class along with one of the Lindy Hop series

** 8:00 - 9:00pm ($50) **

Beginner Lindy Hop: Keepin' It Kickin' with Charleston

Charleston was danced in the late 1920's and is an integral part of
the Lindy Hop we dance today. The footwork and patterns can be danced
to much faster rhythms and allows a Lindy Hopper to get through high
energy songs with ease. This 4 week series will cover the side by side
and tandem versions of Charleston and will teach you how to transition
between the different styles of dance.

This series is suitable from the absolute beginner with no dance
experience to dancers with 4-6 months of Lindy Hop dance experience.
This series will teach you the fundamentals of Lindy Hop, including
lead & follow techniques, as well as will give you a variety of
leadable and followable dance moves to use out on the dance floor.

Intermediate Lindy Hop Series w/ Trevor & Megan
The Best of Trevor and Megan! - Farewell Tour :(

Get ready for a month filled with the best moves Trevor and Megan
have to offer. They're pulling out all of your favorites and some
new and exciting moves you won't want to miss. Best of Dynamic Lindy,
Sal-Swing, wild Charleston variations, and some crazy connection and
of course their unique style and flare.

Farewell Tour? There's a possibility this will be the last series
Trevor and Megan are teaching together, but you'll have to come to
class to find out why. Trevor and Megan will also be teaching at the
Frankie Manning Workshops in February so stay tuned for more details.

This series is intended for the intermediate dancer with 6+ months of
Lindy Hop experience.
