Swingin' At The Savoy 2015 was here, and what a great event it was! We'd like to thank everyone who contributed -- the organizers and the volunteers, the instructors and the guests of honor, the bands and the DJs. Each one of us who attended got to carry away a special gift -- a new knowledge or a new inspiration, a sense of belonging to a greater community, or to deeper history, and a feel of touching something bigger than any one person can put in words. Thank you for coming!

The spring is ahead, full of fresh beginnings; so let's bid farewell one last time to the Fabulous February dancing our hearts out to DJ Reese!

We strongly encourage you to register online for our series classes! It is cheaper for you, and makes it easier for us to monitor the leader-follower balance in classes, amongst other things.

We are excited to welcome Katie O'Neill to our teaching crew! After living and studying in Santa Cruz, she moved to San Luis Obispo where she became an energetic organizer and instructor in the local Lindy community, although she was driving up for dancing to the Bay Area very frequently. She has finally decided to take the leap and join us in the South Bay, and we are more than delighted. Her bio will come up shortly on our website. In the meantime, join the Level 2 series class to make an acquaintance with this talented dancer!

*** LEVEL 2: Swingout -- Focus on the Send Out w/ Katie & Paul ***
Do you and your social dancing partners a favor by taking care of them during one of the most important moves in lindy hop, the Swing Out! Learn useful new ways to think about the dance, and expand your knowledge base and options for how to execute great and comfortable swingouts for both your leaders and your followers! This class focuses mostly on counts 4,5&6 of the swingout, and also deals with what the follow can do creatively when that happens!

# PRE-REQUISITES: Execute a swingout, lindy circle, charleston and 6-count moves and transition between them in open and closed positions. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

*** LEVEL 3: Flow and Momentum w/ Amanda & Kevin ****
When everything feels right, leaders and followers feel comfortable playing off each other by directing and redirecting energy and momentum. Kevin and Amanda will help you explore this flow and share a few ways to incorporate it into your dancing in fun and exciting ways.

# PRE-REQUISITES: At least nine consecutive months of Level 1 and Level 2 including one full year of social dance, or discuss your eligibility with instructors. Under-qualified students will be asked to transfer to Level 2 in order to strengthen their fundamentals.

*** LEVEL 1: Charleston w/ Margot & Richard ***
Come out and kick your way around some basic Charleston! You will learn basic body movement, drill technique on Charleston kicks, and explore 20s and 30s style Charleston as you get ready to kick it on the social dance floor.

# PRE-REQUISITES: None. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

3. February Classes: Angela & Doug! Carla & Gilles!

*** LEVEL 2: Tandem Charleston w/ Angela & Doug ***
Spice up your Lindy language with some hot, fast-paced Tandem Charleston. Your trusty guides will navigate you through the ins and outs and all of the awesome variations in between. We'll focus on footwork, connection, and creative ways these fun steps can be added seamlessly into your Charleston repertoire.

# PRE-REQUISITES: Execute a swingout, lindy circle, charleston and 6-count moves and transition between them in open and closed positions. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

*** LEVEL 3: 2-month Performance Class w/ Carla & Gilles ****
Please note: this class is continuing from January. You can't join the class / drop in in February.

Getting the itch to work on a fun partner routine and perhaps perform it in front of your peers? Then this series is for you! Join Carla & Gilles for an 8-week performance class spanning January and February. You will need to find a partner, either ahead of time (facebook anyone?), or in class the first week of the series.

# PRE-REQUISITES: Being registered for the class since January.

*** LEVEL 1: 8-count Lindy Hop w/ Angela & Doug ***
When you really want to dig that swing beat, there's nothing like 8-count lindy hop! We will start with the basics, from zero dance experience on up, and get you swinging around the dance floor in no time! This is a progressive 4-week class; show up on the first week to get maximum benefit.

# PRE-REQUISITES: None. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

*** ELECTIVE: Lindy Resolutions - Part 2 w/ Carla & Gilles ***
Missed the Part 1 in January? No worries, join us in February! This month, we will focus on spins & turns, rhythm, and jazz moves.

Giving some thoughts about New Year's resolutions? What about taking some Lindy resolutions for 2015? Carla & Gilles would like to help you with that. This two-part series (part 1 was in February) is meant to transform your dancing by deconstructing Lindy Hop into its different parts (movement, rhythm, connection, partnering, momentum) and then putting them back together. New understanding, new feel, new year, new you!

# PRE-REQUISITES: Having completed 3 months of Level 1. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

Wednesday Night Hop offers value pre-paid punch cards for entrance to the dance only. Each card gets you 10 admissions to the dance party be it a band night or a special party or performance. No more messing around with cash at the door. Just present your card and sign in!
