1. THIS WEEK: January Series! 2-Month Performance Class! Royal Society Swingtet! DJ Eliott!

What could be a better way to kick off the year than with a two-months long performance class for Level 3 taught by Carla & Gilles! And in the Elective class, they will help you make and keep some Lindy Hop New Year Resolutions. Katrina & Philippe will teach Classic Moves to Level 2, and Doug & Katrina will focus Level 1 students on the wonders of 6-count. Let's kick off 2015 dancing to live music with Royal Society Swingtet! They are renowned for authentically performing the exciting sound of Big Band Swing, Hot Syncopated 1920s Jazz, 1930s & 1940s Swing, Blues, Dixieland, Romantic Background Music, Vintage Jazz, Traditional Jazz, and Western Swing. They are so good, they will be playing the Friday dance for Swingin' At The Savoy! (You have registered, right?)

We've launched the 5th edition of our annual Jazz & Dance History workshop. It will take place the weekend of February 20-22nd 2015. We are excited to welcome back Norma Miller, Chazz Young, and Chester Whitmore. We have a fantastic instructor line-up with Skye Humphries & Frida Segerdahl, Ryan Calloway & Ann Mony, and Rob & Diane Van Haaren.

2. January Classes: Carla & Gilles! Katrina & Philippe & Doug!

*** LEVEL 2: Classic Moves w/ Katrina & Alex P / Philippe ***
Points, Jig Walks, and Mini-Dips? Swing is one of the most playful dances, and we'll explore some of the most entertaining classic swing figures. You'll have a chance to add in your own style and creativity to make these figures your own, so that they evolve with your dancing!

# PRE-REQUISITES: Execute a swingout, lindy circle, charleston and 6-count moves and transition between them in open and closed positions. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

*** LEVEL 3: 8-week Performance Class w/ Carla & Gilles ****
Getting the hitch to work on a fun partner routine and perhaps perform it in front of your peers? Then this series is for you! Join Carla & Gilles for an 8-week performance class spanning January and February. You will need to find a partner, either ahead of time (facebook anyone?), or in class the first week of the series.

# PRE-REQUISITES: BRING A PARTNER. At least nine consecutive months of Level 1 and Level 2 including one full year of social dance, or discuss your eligibility with instructors. Under-qualified students will be asked to transfer to Level 2 in order to strengthen their fundamentals.

*** LEVEL 1: 6-count Lindy Hop w/ Katrina & Alex P / Doug ***
Start dancing from day one! We will get you moving in this month-long series that introduces you to basic footwork, turns, wraps, breaks and jazzy stylin'. Covers the 6-count basics, also sometimes known as East Coast Swing, also used in Lindy Hop.

# PRE-REQUISITES: None. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

*** ELECTIVE: Lindy Resolutions - Part 1 w/ Carla & Gilles ***
Giving some thoughts about New Year's resolutions? What about taking some Lindy resolutions for 2015? Carla & Gilles would like to help you with that. This two-part series (part 2 will be in February) is meant to transform your dancing by deconstructing Lindy Hop into its different parts (movement, rhythm, connection, partnering, momemtum) and then putting them back together. New understanding, new feel, new year, new you!

# PRE-REQUISITES: Having completed 3 months of Level 1. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

7:15-8:15pm - Level 3 Lindy
8:15-9:15pm - Level 1 Lindy
8:15-9:15pm - Elective
9:30-12:00am - Dance Party

All classes include free admission to dance party. The 8-week performance series class counts as two series classes.

Wednesday Night Hop offers value pre-paid punch cards for entrance to the dance only. Each card gets you 10 admissions to the dance party be it a band night or a special party or performance. No more messing around with cash at the door. Just present your card and sign in!
