What a special Halloween party we had! Big congrats to our finalists -- Hanah Yendler in her supercalifragilisticexpialidocious costume, and to Matthew Vicksell, in the Bill on the Way to Capitol Hill costume! Did you know that Matthew also got the first prize at the Swingin' At The Rack Halloween party the next day? We've got some serious dress-up talent at WNH!

We're excited to once again dance to Rich & The Rhythm Roustabouts. The Roustabouts know what it means to Swing Out, so get ready to dance your socks off to your favorite tunes!

It's time for the first round of the Harvest Moon Jack & Jill Derby! The entry is only and is open to all amateur-level dancers. Registration opens up at 9:15pm and the spots fill up quickly! The finals are on December 3rd with live music from Clint Baker's New Orleans Jazz Band, and prizes will be tickets to Lindy events. You have nothing to lose; come and take part!

# SWINGIN' AT THE SAVOY 2015
We've officially launched the 5th edition of our annual Jazz & Dance History workshop. It will take place the weekend of February 20-22nd 2015. We are excited to welcome back Norma Miller, Chazz Young, and Chester Whitmore. We have a fantastic instructor line-up with Skye Humphries & Frida Segerdahl, Ryan Calloway & Ann Mony, and Rob & Diane Van Haaren. 2. November Classes: BALBOA 7-week Progressive! Gaby & Brian! Crystal & Doug! Lori & Gilles!

We're very happy to have another talented guest instructor back to teaching with us this month, Miss Gaby Cook! If you weren't lucky to take classes with her earlier this year, let us remind you -- Gaby is an internationally acclaimed dancer and instructor, the founder of the Sweet 16 all-girls troupe in San Francisco, and mostly resembles a tiny ball of pure energy. You'll greatly benefit from her classes... and will surely enjoy them as well!

The Balboa class will continue for the next 7 weeks, till the end of the year. Balboa your way into 2015!

7:15-8:15pm
*** LEVEL 2: Chewy Charleston Chops w/ Lori & Gilles ***
Add some pizzazz to your Charleston by kicking and double-kicking our way through "airplane" charleston, Hand-to-Hand moves, Hack-saws and Kick-Throughs. We'll even make the magical mix of Charleston Swing-Outs to really get you flying through those swingin' beats! This is a progressive 4-week class; show up on the first week to get maximum benefit.

# PRE-REQUISITES: Execute a swingout, lindy circle, charleston and 6-count moves and transition between them in open and closed positions. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

*** LEVEL 3: Footwork Variations, Styling, Lines w/ Gaby & Brian ****
You've mastered all the moves and you're dancing confidently with all kinds of partners. Now you're considering the bigger picture: layering these complicated variations and styling with a solid partner connection, creating a two-body picture with great quality of movement and intentional aesthetics. This class will explore that heady level where theory meets execution.

# PRE-REQUISITES: At least nine consecutive months of Level 1 and Level 2 including one full year of social dance, or discuss your eligibility with instructors. Under-qualified students will be asked to transfer to Level 2 in order to strengthen their fundamentals.

8:15-9:15pm
*** LEVEL 1: 8-count Lindy Hop w/ Gaby & Brian ***
When you really want to dig that swing beat, there's nothing like 8-count lindy hop! We will start with the basics, from zero dance experience on up, and get you swinging around the dance floor in no time! This is a progressive 4-week class; show up on the first week to get maximum benefit.

# PRE-REQUISITES: None. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

*** ELECTIVE: Balboa 7-week Progressive w/ Crystal & Doug ***
Students should expect fast and progressive coverage of material and concepts that build on their existing knowledge of basic figures, spread over a seven-week commitment. By the end of this course, you will have advanced your footwork mastery, played with creativity, and strengthened your connection and technique for faster and more reliable responsiveness and musicality.

# PRE-REQUISITES: October's Balboa Fundamentals class OR equivalent strong familiarity with the basic balboa rhythm, the basic figures including pure balboa and basics (double and single), forward/back progressives, paddles, come-around, lolly kicks and the throwout.
