This February at Wednesday Night Hop will be full of exciting things -- get ready!
Kevin and Jo are back in town and will be sharing their awesomeness with us during a whole month of classes! Do you have your hats ready? The hat tricks class will be one of the many things that this amazing couple is going to teach us!
We will be kicking February off with Rich & The Rhythm Roustabouts. We always have so much fun dancing to them and can't wait to have them play for us next week!
February 13th -- a Mardi Gras party and a Strictly Lindy prelims for Swingin' At The Savoy -- see more details below.
February 20th -- getting ready for Swingin' At The Savoy by honoring the Black History month and showing historical clips.

1. THIS WEEK: Swingin' At The Savoy! Special Drop-In Classes! Faux-Hawks! DJ Alex F!

We're working very hard getting ready for Swingin' At The Savoy -- check out below what new and exciting things are going to happen there!
There are five Wednesdays this month, which means we get to have special drop-in classes on our 5th week, January 30th. Our series are scheduled around a 4-week month, but on the months where there are five Wednesdays, we offer standalone special topic drop-in classes.
This month we're very lucky to have one of the best international instructors, the sassy Jo Hoffberg come and teach some of the drop-in classes. Check out the class descriptions below for details!
The Unofficial Faux-Hawk night is here! Come this week to WNH wearing a Faux-Hawk, and be awesome like Jo, who, as we all know, dons some of the craziest, prettiest and awesomest hair styles. This was a big success last year, and it's truly Unofficial -- it is being organized not by Wednesday Night Hop staff, but by regular dancers. Visit the Facebook event and click Join!

2. Swingin' At The Savoy: Battle of the Bay! Chester Whitmore!

Swingin' At The Savoy is coming up soon! We are going to have some exciting competitions this year, and one of them is:
Swingin' at the Savoy Battle of the Bay!
The Dancers Den VS. Wednesday Night Hop VS. The 9:20 Special
Bay Area venues will go head to head in this exciting Lindy Hop contest! Each venue will host a prelim round where couples will compete for the chance to represent their local dance. The top 2 couples from each prelim will win free passes to Swingin' at the Savoy and will compete in the finals on Friday, February 22nd. Anyone can enter, anything goes, and you can bet dancers will be throwin' down to win the Best of the Bay title! Sign up to compete or come out and watch! You won't want to miss this one!
Prelims are:
Thurs Feb 7th - The 9:20 Special
Wed Feb 13th - Wednesday Night Hop
Tue Feb 19th - The Dancers Den
So if you're willing to compete for the chance to represent Wednesday Night Hop, find a partner, practice your best moves and come burn up the dance floor on February 13th!

We are super thrilled to have Chester Whitmore join us again for the workshop this year! Those of you who met him last year are surely excited to learn again from this amazing man, a masterful tap dancer, a choreographer and a film maker, and hear his one-of-a-kind stories; if you haven't met him yet, you're in for a treat!
And of course don't forget that we'll be having the old-time Lindy Hop legends -- Norma Miller and Chazz Young; as well as top-notch international instructors, Skye & Frida, Todd & Ramona, Kevin St Laurent & Karen Turman; and some of the local most favorite instructors!
If you haven't gotten your pass yet, hurry up -- price goes up this Thursday!

3. January 30th, Drop-in Classes: Jo Hoffberg! Gilles & Idalia! Special Topics!

*** ALL LEVELS JAZZ: Move Like Jo w/ Jo ***
An All Levels Jazz class with the fabulous Jo Hoffberg.
*** LEVEL 2: Slide, Dip, and Drag w/ Gilles & Idalia ***
Join Gilles & Idalia for this special drop-in class and add flair to your dancing. A bit of a slide here, a dip there, finish it up with a drag, and your dancing will reach a new level, with panache!

*** LEVEL 1: Movement & Footwork w/ Gilles & Idalia ***
In this special drop-in class, Gilles & Idalia will teach you how to move in harmony with your partner, and walk you through the main types of footwork in Lindy Hop. This will get you comfortable moving with your partner and around the dance floor. A one, a two, you know what to do...

*** FLASH ACTS: The Essential & The Not-So-Essential w/ Kevin & Jo ***
There are certain things that you should know if you call yourself a Lindy Hopper. Once you have a good hold of some of those routines and moves that make up a typical Lindy Hopper's vocabulary the more likely you will be able to speak each other's language, no matter what your native language is! In this class, Kevin and Jo will combine some of those things that everyone knows with a few things that can be augmented by other stuff that is just plain fun and frivolous - the use of Hats, Canes, "Flash Act" elements, Dancing in Heels.

WNH welcomes individuals of 24 years and younger! Show proof of age 24 and younger at the front desk for half off the price of series classes. If you are over 24 years old, but still carry enough credits to qualify as a full-time student, you are still eligible for the discount. Bring in your full-time class schedule for that semester or quarter to get the discount. Dances are also discounted to a admission cost. Drop-in classes are not discounted.
Discount policy for 24 and younger or full-time students:

Wednesday Night offers value pre-paid punch cards for entrance to the dance only. Each card gets you 10 admissions to the dance party be it a band night or a special party or performance. No more messing around with cash at the door. Just present your card and sign in!
