Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year, so naturally we're having a fabulous Halloween party, with a Double or Nothing special Halloween performance, Halloween crafts, and, of course, a costume contest! Let your imagination soar! There's a tradition at WNH to dress up as a name of a swing song, these costumes tend to get pretty creative!

Yes, you read it right -- V(ideo)J Alex P! The awesome DJ Alex P. has enough dance videos to DJ the dance through them. We can't wait to see what awesome video clips are going to show up on our screen this Wednesday!
This week will conclude our October series, and our November series start on Halloween. You're welcome to drop in to any class!

2. October Classes: Cheryl & Dhruv! Gilles & Idalia!

7:15-8:15pm:
*** Level 2: 6 + 8 = Great! w/ Cheryl & Dhruv ***
So, you've learned the basic charleston, swingout and 6 count basics...now, how are you going to put them all together? In this class, we'll teach you how to build on your 6 and 8 count basics, seamlessly transition between movements, and expand your vocabulary of moves. From tuck turns and the Texas Tommy to barrel rolls and dips, we'll teach you fun 6 and 8 count variations to keep you and your partner dancing all night long. Through it all, we'll also address foundational skills such as connection and frame.
*** Aerials Training Cont'd (partner required) w/ Gilles & Idalia ***
Find a partner, it's time to fly higher! Join Gilles and Idalia to continue our aerials training series this October and take you to the next level. If you haven't taken the September series, no worries, you can still join in the fun but know we will expect students to have good knowledge of dance partnering and connection. All classes require a pre-selected partner, so find one and sign up together. We're sure there is someone you want to defy gravity with!
8:15-9:15pm:
*** Level 1: 8-count Lindy Hop w/ Gilles & Idalia ***
It's time to SWING OUT!! Come join Gilles and Idalia as they teach you the fundamentals of lindy hop! The rock step, the triple step, the rock step plus the triple step... This month we'll be focusing on lindy hop's signature move, the swingout, and other 8-count moves. If you'd like to refresh your basics, this is also an excellent 4-week progressive series for you. Swingouts, new moves, and lots of fun for everyone!
*** Level 3: "Video Challenge Class" w/ Cheryl & Dhruv ***
In this unique class, you will have the opportunity to explore concepts such as improvisation, musicality and lines, then use video footage from the class to help you improve your execution and confidence in your dancing. In each class, we will spend some time exploring the theme of the day and improving your abilities in that area. Then, we will film the entire class dancing, after which we will review the videos and (as a class) discuss the highlights of each person's dancing and areas for improvement. This class will provide you with a unique opportunity to get specific feedback for your dancing in order to improve your confidence overall. We all know that video-taping one's dancing is one of the best ways to improve, but it's often difficult and scary to do so; we promise to do our best to make this a fun, supportive and positive learning environment for everyone involved.

WNH welcomes individuals of 24 years and younger! Show proof of age 24 and younger at the front desk for half off the price of series classes. If you are over 24 years old, but still carry enough credits to qualify as a full-time student, you are still eligible for the discount. Bring in your full-time class schedule for that semester or quarter to get the discount. Dances are also discounted to a admission cost. Drop-in classes are not discounted.
Discount policy for 24 and younger or full-time students:

for the dance only (regularly or on band night)
*** PUNCH CARDS & 2-FOR-1 COUPONS! ***
Wednesday Night offers value pre-paid punch cards for entrance to the dance only. Each card gets you 10 admissions to the dance party be it a band night or a special party or performance. No more messing around with cash at the door. Just present your card and sign in!
If you signed up for the class series and you would like to introduce Lindy Hop to someone who has never been to Wednesday Night Hop before, ask your instructor for a 2-for-1 coupon. You can sign up for your next series class for only for the continuing student and for the brand new dancer! Spread the gospel of swing!
