Greetings from Catalina Island and the most magical ballroom in the world!
Congratulations to our third set of Harvest Moon Jack and Jill preliminary winners! These first place winners move on to the final on December 7th competing to live music with Clint Baker's New Orleans Jazz Band and vying for event passes from Midwest Lindyfest, Camp Jitterbug and Swingin' at the Savoy!
Only ONE MORE WEEK to qualify for the final. Sign up first come, first served near the DJ booth to get into the 4th Prelim. contest on Nov. 30th!

1. THIS WEEK: WNH CLOSED! Field Trip to Cat's Corner in San Francisco!

We are closed this week for Thanksgiving! WNH is grateful to all of you who come out and make it so much fun to dance in Mountain View every week!
Need to get your lindy fix this week? Cat's Corner in the Mission District of San Francisco will be open on Wednesday, so we are taking a field trip! A Free 1/2 hour beginning lesson starts at 9:00 and the dance starts at 9:30. Every week Cat's Corner features amazing live music and this week they've lined up Macy Blackman & The Mighty Fines!
If you arrive before 9:30, "Happy Hour" admission is only and includes the beginning swing drop-in class. After 9:30 the price jumps to unless you are a WNH series class registrant. (Your names will be at the door if you qualify for this discount.)
WNH steering committee members, Gilles and Lori, will be in attendance so you will know someone who is going on the field trip and we recommend you arrange for yourselves a carpool of people to assure a fun and social commute time! The WNH parking lot makes a really great meeting spot!

*** INTERMEDIATE - BAL-RUEDA! ***
7:15 - 8:15pm
You already know Swing Rueda: a called group dance around a circle based on Casino Rueda. Now translate that image into Balboa. This is an intermediate level class, so please come knowing: basic footwork, come-around, break-turn, throw-out, cross-overs, and lollies and be comfortable transitioning between Pure Balboa and Bal-swing. *** LEVEL 1 - BEGINNING CHARLESTON & LINDY HOP ***
8:15 - 9:15pm
Brush up or come as a complete novice. We will get you dancing and swingin' like a gate this month!
*** LEVEL 2 - SWING-OUT TECHNIQUE ***
7:15 - 8:15pm
Brian and Cheryl will get your swing-outs feeling fantastic and work on some great techniques that will make it fluid and fabulous!
*** LEVEL 3 - SPECIAL TOPICS ***
8:15 - 9:15pm
Each week we will do something that we've been wanting to do for a long time! (topic subject to change - we're working on it, but we are so excited for this series that we want to share some of the ideas and loose schedule that we are firming up as this is being sent!)
*Competition Class - We'll talk about competing, how to do it, what the judges are looking for and we'll hold a little preliminary and final contest during the hour.
*Musicality Class - Talk about and interpret the music from the roots of its history. You may love how your dancing changes with this unique and educated perspective in mind.
*Critique Session - Diagnose what you are doing well and what you need the most work on. This is one of the best things you can do for your Lindy Hop. If you can stand the pressure, the results will be worth it!
*Teacher Panel Question & Answer - Some WNH teachers and beyond will answer and expound on your burning questions. Submit your questions all month leading up to this final week of 2011!

WNH welcomes individuals of 24 years and younger! Show proof of age 24 and younger at the front desk for half off the price of series classes. If you are over 24 years old, but still carry enough credits to qualify as a full-time student, you are still eligible for the discount. Bring in your full-time class schedule for that semester or quarter to get the discount. Dances are also discounted to a admission cost. Drop-in classes are not discounted.

for the dance only (regularly or on band night)

Wednesday Night offers value pre-paid punch cards for entrance to the dance only. Each card gets you 10 admissions to the dance party be it a band night or a special party or performance. No more messing around with cash at the door. Just present your card and sign in!
If you signed up for the class series and you would like to introduce Lindy Hop to someone who has never been to Wednesday Night Hop before, ask your instructor for a 2-for-1 coupon. You can sign up for your next series class for only for the continuing student and for the brand new dancer! Spread the gospel of swing!
