The first round of Jack & Jill finalists were determined last week! Julie Tsai and Jeff Gin are the first folks going on to the final on December 1st and duking it out for our grand prize. In addition to our cash prize, we will be awarding passes to Camp Jitterbug up in Seattle on Memorial Day weekend, the SF Balfest happening in December. Don't worry! There are five more weeks of preliminary rounds for you to qualify as well.

If you were there last week, you got an idea of how Jack 'n' Jill contests go. Don't be shy! Contests are a great way to push yourself and see what kinds of fun things happen to your social dancing when you have an audience!
We wanted to stress the amateur level of the contest, but have found that people are opting themselves out that we hadn't anticipated. Amateur status, as we have defined it for this contest, includes anyone who does not make more than 50% of their income from lindy hop dancing or instruction.

2. October Series Classes Continue with Adam & Pinar!

You can still drop in to classes! A great opportunity to get a few tips and pointers from some fun and fantastic teachers!
*** LEVEL 1 - FUNDAMENTALS OF LINDY HOP ***
Oct 6 - Oct 27, 8:15 - 9:15pm
Kicking off a new class series in October, Adam and Pinar will start teaching you strong fundamentals upon which you can build a long and healthy passion for lindy hop. Start swingin' out in style to the extraordinary music that is America's greatest heritage. Warning: Lindy hop can lead to copious amounts of fun and excitement.
*** LEVEL 2 - FREE YOUR DANCE ***
Oct 6 - Oct 27, 7:15 - 8:15pm
We always try to push the limits of the box that contain us. We like to remove the mental and physical blocks that inhibit our full expression as dancers and artists. In this class Adam and Pinar will explore ways of achieving these goals. They will help you remove the unnecessary constraints that limit the freedom in your dance and open up a space where you can pronounce your artistry with intention. A rare class sure to be beneficial to dancers of all levels.

7:15pm - Level 2 Int Lindy Hop ($14 drop-in, dance included)
8:15pm - Level 1 Beg Lindy Hop ($14 drop-in, dance included)
9:15pm - 11:45pm - Dance Party! ($7 Dance only)

Something wicked this way comes... it's Hallowe'en time! Put your thinking caps on and get out your sewing machines, glue guns, or papier-mache; we have $50 waiting for the best costume as well as some other fun and games. Mark your calendars; your costume needs to be ready a little earlier this year!

WNH welcomes individuals of 24 years and younger! Show proof of age 24 and younger at the front desk for half off the price of series classes. If you are over 24 years old, but still carry enough credits to qualify as a full-time student, you are still eligible for the discount. Bring in your full-time class schedule for that semester or quarter to get the discount. Dances are also discounted to a $5 admission cost. Drop-in classes are not discounted.
Discount policy for 24 and younger or full-time students:
$25 for series classes (regularly $50)
$14 or $15 for drop-in classes (same as regular price)
$5 for the dance only (regularly $7 or $10 on band night)
