1. THIS WEEK: September 22nd - DJ Shane - Back to School Sock Hop Party!

This week we have DJ Shane tickling our ears with music for the Back-to-School Sock Hop.
Come and dress the part in a school uniform, or vintage sock hop garb. Backpacks are also welcome, and be ready for some fun and games. If you have a poodle skirt, this week is the time to wear it.

2. September Series Classes Conclude with Gabe & Andrea!

This is the 4th and final week of our Charleston classes with Gabe and Andrea. You are welcome to drop in to this week's class, but be prepared for a fast pace experience.
If you missed the first two weeks then you can still join the series, but be prepared for a slightly faster pace.

3. Upcoming Event: Sept. 29th: Live band - Solomon Douglas!

Come on out for a not-to-be-missed treat! Solomon Douglas is a jazz pianist and bandleader, whose various bands have played at more than fifty exchanges, camps, workshops, and other events in North America, Asia, and Australia in the past ten years. His experience as a swing dancer and dance instructor gives him an understanding unique among musicians of the music that swing dancers and blues dancers like to dance to!
We're happy to have Solomon play for us while he's in town. His unique knowledge of both dancing and music makes his arrangements perfect for dancing.

4. Heads Up: Sept. 29th: Fifth week drop-in class with Adam and Pinar

This 5th week of the month, we have some great new classes. In Level 1, Pinar & Adam will share some of their lindy hop wisdom in their address of the graduating class of Summer Swing 2010. Level 2 will explore various ways of traveling across the lindy hop floor with finesse.

Many of you are ready to graduate from Level 1 after months of lessons in 8-count, 6-count and charleston. In this class, you will learn that lindy hop is not about counts, but about music and moving to the music... that the best dancers are like another instrument in the band. Come and learn how to listen to swing music and how to best accompany it with your dancing. Use the building blocks you've been learning in the months prior to form sentences and then, learn some punctuation: moves that will make your phrases complete and meaningful.

Many times we get stuck in a rut, literally, with our dancing... Join Pinar and Adam as they teach you how to shake it up and take some space on the dance floor! We'll be teaching all our favorite traveling moves to get you weaving around and circling the floor, as well as all the floor-craft and manners you need to know to perform them confidently. So grab your coat, and get your hat... the Lindy train is taking off!

We've got another amazing band coming in the first week of October; the California Honeydrops. These guys always bring the house down, and we don't get them very often so don't miss out on this great oportunity. As the band says "Our mission is to get the whole crowd participating and singing along, and we want them partying. It's about feeling good - everybody together."

WNH welcomes individuals of 24 years and younger! Show proof of age 24 and younger at the front desk for half off the price of series classes. If you are over 24 years old, but still carry enough credits to qualify as a full-time student, you are still eligible for the discount. Bring in your full-time class schedule for that semester or quarter to get the discount. Dances are also discounted to a $5 admission cost. Drop-in classes are not discounted.
Discount policy for 24 and younger or full-time students:
$25 for series classes (regularly $50)
$14 or $15 for drop-in classes (same as regular price)
$5 for the dance only (regularly $7 or $10 on band night)
