Hi Dancers,
If you did not stay late last week, you missed a special jam. Our own Andrea Owens has found a great job opportunity in Pasadena, CA and has decided to grab it! We will miss her very much and wish her the best in her new adventures, and much dancing at Lindy Groove. Hope you come and visit us Andrea!
Last week, DJ Shane's wall of sound really kept our feet moving! And, it was so nice having so many visitors participating in our jam this week. This summer has been smokin'!
If you haven't been here in awhile, since July we have been enjoying more space and air on the big floor at Starlite Ballroom EVERY WEEK! Because of your support, WNH has grown in numbers! Management has realized that we need a bigger home, so keep on coming and enjoying our expanded digs.
And remember: Save the date, September 9th, for another fabulous BAND NIGHT! We will be hosting Clint Baker and the Cafe Borrone All Stars, so remember to invite your family and friends!

August Classes

Level 1 - 20's Charleston & Beyond - with Trevor & Audrey
8:00 - 9:00pm
Flappers and Speakeasies and the roaring 20's! This bygone era is characterized by a style of swing dancing that is still a part of Lindy Hop today. Sometimes called face-to-face Charleston, this style of dance is done in closed position and roots the Lindy Hop in a never-ending pulse. From this position, the dancers started to stretch away from each other and Lindy Hop was born! In this class, we will show you how 20's Charleston and Lindy Hop link up as well as give you some classic jazz movement like "Shorty George" and "Boogie Back". Don't be a "Palooka". Take this class and you'll be the "Bee's Knees"!
Level 2 - "Bei Mir Bist Du Schon" Means That You're Grand! - with Trevor & Audrey
7:00 - 8:00pm
Charleston, Lindy Turns, Dips, Jumps, Connection Exercises, Musicality - It's all part of Lindy Hop and it's time to put it all together. If you feel as though you have learned all the basics in the beginning class, here is where you will refine what you have learned and synthesize it into a fun routine to remember all the pieces of the puzzle and grab hold of some new and fun ways to transition between them. Though it is a routine, lead and follow will be constantly emphasized and performance is not a requirement.

2. Band Night: September 9th! Clint Baker and the Cafe Borrone All-Stars

For over 20 years, Clint Baker has led a New Orleans style jazz ensemble at the Cafe Borrone in Menlo Park. Selecting only the best traditional jazz musicians to perform with him gives listeners the opportunity to be entertained by extraordinary music. The group is comprised of band leaders and key members of world-class traditional jazz bands. The regular members of the Cafe Borrone All-Stars include: Clint Baker (various instruments), Leon Oakley (trumpet), Robert Young (reeds), Jim Klippert (trombone), Monte Reyes (guitar/banjo), and Bill Reinhart (bass).
