Last week was rip roaring fun! Student night with Clint Baker and the Cafe Borrone All Stars brought record numbers to Wednesday Night Hop. We burst open at the seams and had to open up the whole dance floor to accommodate all of us out there! Thanks for being a friendly crowd bringing baked goods and dancing with our guests from Leadership Public High School who learned how to lindy hop from Trevor and Audrey all week long.
This past Memorial Day weekend was the Frankie Manning Celebration in New York City. We hope you were fortunate enough to join about 2000 lindy hoppers from all over the world to celebrate over there, but, if not the celebration is described on the website and there will be postings of the festivities on youtube and facebook throughout the week.

We have some AMAZING stuff coming up at Wednesday Night Hop in June including Lindy Prom, a Jack & Jill contest, some great classes, and opportunities to save some bucks! 1. THIS WEEK: May 27th - DJ Scott! Classes! Food and Fun!

This is our fourth week of classes in May with Gilles and Audrey.
Level 1: Footwork Frenzy 8:00-9:00pm
Learn all the 6-count and 8-count basics, charleston and jazz movement. This month gives you a taste of how it all comes together.
Level 2: The Spirit of Lindy Hop 7:00-8:00pm
Learn the Frankie Manning Global Choreography that is being done all over the world as well as some moves that will make your dancing more interesting and dynamic.
Drop-ins are welcome at $14 per class.
The dance with DJ Scott is included in the class price or you can come for just the dance from 9:00-11:30 for $7.

2. June Classes

Level 1: Together in Tandem with Trevor and Andrea O.
8:00 - 9:00pm
Tandem Charleston - It's as easy as riding a bike built for two! Besides the lindy basics, Trevor and Andrea will focus on going from side-by-side to tandem position. In addition, you will learn exciting moves like Airplane, Rainbow, and Crossovers that will get your wheels spinning! Remember, Charleston is an integral part of your lindy experience so let us take you on a ride!
Level 2: Fundamentals with Trevor and Andrea O.
7:00 - 8:00pm
Find your niche! What makes your dancing unique? Find out by applying the skills to perfect your technique in balance, spinning, footwork, and musicality. We are going to work hard, but the end product will help your personal style to shine!

Lindy Prom

Some Enchanted Evening - June 3rd
Yes, it's that time of the year again - Lindy Prom! Get dressed to impress
and dance the night away with your "high-school" sweetheart (or go stag)!
And of course, we will vote for your Lindy Prom King & Queen 2009! In
addition, we will have a contest for "Best Dressed" and "Class Clown". Come
out and vote for your classmates!
We will have a photo booth so you can get your picture taken for our "Lindy
Prom Yearbook"! All attendees plus extra pictures from the evening will be
included in our virtual yearbook with pictures of our Prom King and Queen
and prize winners. So, drag out your best prom or bridesmaid dress/polyester powder blue tuxedo with ruffles and have a ball with us!
Jack & Jill Contest - June 24th

We are keeping the fun rolling with our Jack & Jill contest next month!
Dust off those competition shoes and get ready to roll!
This is a fun competition for all dancers. Jack & Jill competitions
originated over 40 years ago and are designed to showcase a competitor's
skills in spontaneous swing dancing and their ability to dance well with a
variety of partners to randomly selected music. It is the ultimate fun
lead/follow social dance contest that you, yes YOU, can enter.
Competitors enter individually and are randomly assigned to several
partners. Partner selection is luck of the draw. During the preliminaries,
couples will be judged in heats and will rotate partners as many times as
deemed necessary by the judges. During the final, each dancer will be peer judged individually as a leader or a follower. Contest music and the order in
which it is played will be selected by the DJ. The winners will receive a
fabulous prize!
